Blackjack Switching Strategy in Playtech Games

Blackjack Switching StrategyOne of Playtech’s blackjack games allows you the opportunity to switch two of your cards between two hands before you play them out. While the strategy of hitting, standing and doubling is pretty straight-forward in this game, the strategy of knowing when to switch your cards is something that most blackjack players will not have much experience with, and it will be likely to throw them off. To help you out, we want to give you a simple blackjack switching strategy that will help you play most hands.

Components of the Blackjack Switching Strategy

To play this strategy, you’ll need to know the eight strongest blackjack hands in order. They are: 21, 20, 19, AA, 11, 10, 9, 18/8 and a pair of eights. 18 and 8 are paired together because they are of equal strength. If you are against one of the more neutral dealer cards like a 7 or an 8, then you’re going to want to play a defensive strategy based around improving the worst of your two starting hands to try to create two hands that are as close to each other in value as possible. In short, if switching will make your hands closer together in value, then you should do it. If it won’t, then you shouldn’t switch.

Facing Strong or Weak Dealer Cards

If you’re facing a strong dealer card of 9 or higher, or if you’re facing a weak dealer card of 6 or lower, then you’re going to play the same type of strategy, though it will be for different reasons. The strategy against these cards will be to create the strongest type of hand possible. You do this by looking at your best hand and then deciding if switching will produce a stronger hand. If it will, then you switch.

Against a weak card, you do this because your second-strongest hand will still perform well. However, against a strong card, you do this because your strongest hand will have good chances of winning, and you will at least win one of your two hands for an overall push in a tough situation.
