US Online Gambling Problems Mount as State

us online gambling problemsOne of the biggest arguments for regulating online gambling in the United States has been the revenue that it would bring in for the state and for local companies. This was one of the main arguments in Delaware, New Jersey and Nevada, the only three states to currently offer some form of Internet-based gambling that’s regulated on the state level. Unfortunately, it seems like there have been new US online gambling problems in the revenue department as actual numbers are drastically missing some of the estimates that people had with their pre-regulation projections.

US Online Gambling Problems With Revenues

If you combine Nevada and Delaware’s revenues from their online gambling services, it comes to about $1 million a month right now. That’s far from the hundreds of millions in projections that were made in the months leading up to the new regulatory processes that allowed a number of sites to become licensed for operation in their respective states. This is a big problem with the fact that 10 or more states are looking at regulating online gambling inside of their own borders right now. Plus, there are two different bills in Congress right now for regulating things on a national level, and both of them are lacking serious backing.

The Future of Online Gambling in the US

As it stands right now, online gambling is only going to progress by being instituted on a state-by-state basis. It’s too hot of a topic to make it through Congress anytime soon by any realistic standards, but the states are looking at everything they can to increase revenues, so it’s likely that we’ll see Internet gambling added in more states in 2014. From that point, states can work together to share player pools, as we have seen some states do already.

In another 18 months, we will have a much clearer picture of what the future of this industry will hold in the United States. Until then, all we can really do is cross our fingers and hope for the best.
