Switzerland Online Gambling Seeks Regulations

Switzerland Online GamblingThe CDCM, or Conference of the Cantonal Directors in Charge of Gambling and Lotteries has made an announcement to the media only a few weeks ago that it intends to push for the Switzerland online gambling regulation. New regulations will allow casinos to start offering their games online, but these opportunities will only be available to land based establishments that currently have licenses within the country.

A New Medium

The CDCM doesn’t see online gambling as a new venture, but considers it to be an extension of one that already exists, albeit within a new “medium”, as they call it. They also believe that allowing foreign establishments who are specialized within the online gambling sector to start advertising themselves to the public could present a range of difficulties for the country on a political, social and economic scale. Furthermore, the organization doesn’t believe that the brick-and-mortar establishments currently in existence should be punished simply because they haven’t had the chance to start offering their “wares” online as yet.

Opening up the market to Switzerland online gambling just about any and all casinos allows those with a significant amount of experience to come up against those who are going to be learning about the market from the ground up. These establishments already have “advanced platforms”, according to the CDCM and they understand how to launch their products in a new environment. This is precisely what the CDCM is looking to protect their fledgling casinos against.

The New Switzerland Online Gambling Bill

The new Switzerland online gambling bill is in the beginning phases of being drafted by the Swizz Federal Government and according to this document all gambling winnings are going to be declared tax free. This new bill is also going to allow poker tournaments on a small scale to be hosted outside of the traditional land-based casinos. This law is going to include certain home games and tournaments, albeit of a small nature.

It remains to be seen just how much of an impact this new bill will have within the online gambling industry in Switzerland and whether or not this will open doors for bigger international brands in the future.
