Strong Actions Against Unlicensed Poland Online Gambling

Again and again, we’re seeing a situation where nationally-operated games have a hard time competing because of the experience disadvantage, and this is definitely the case with Poland online gambling right now. However, some of these options are fairly atypical, and other countries could learn a thing or two from their tactics.

Restricting Unlicensed Poland Online Gambling

There are three main options that Poland has been looking towards for limiting access to unlicensed sites. It’s important to note that physically blocking players from accessing the sites is the first of them, and that was strongly railed against from the public because of the precedent that it sat towards the government limiting/censoring Internet access. There’s also an issue of possibly conflicting with EU law.

Another option is to disrupt players who are on unlicensed sites. Permanent graphics that appear over the pages and other types of workarounds are good examples. This includes warnings that gambling on the site is illegal according to Polish law.

One of the more shady options that has been suggested is preventing unlicensed operators from actually paying out to Polish players. While there are some obvious problems with this on an ethical level, there’s also the issue that it’s probably highly illegal according to EU laws.

Realistic Changes

Poland is running into the same situation that a lot of countries, including Canada, have to deal with. That is the reality that their nationally-operated games cannot compete in terms of experience, features and game selection when it comes to the unlicensed sites. The natural thing to do would be to offer a licensing process that allows these foreign operators to legally run their games inside of the country.
