The same old story applies to Russia as applies to several national governments over the past few years. Revenues and expenses aren’t matching up well enough, and different ideas for generating revenue are being discussed. One of those methods is regulating the online poker industry. It’s expected that this could bring millions of dollars worth of revenue to the government, but there are a number of other benefits to ending this type of ban as well.

The Connection Between Poker and Casino Games

Poker is often seen as being a little bit different than casino games because of the way it’s played and with the different structure for the house getting paid. In spite of this, there aren’t many places where online poker is allowed where online casino games and other types of Internet gambling aren’t allowed.

What happens when you have an unregulated environment for online gambling is that there are no licensing requirements for operating inside of a country. Despite the ban, there are still plenty of ways to gamble on the Internet, and it’s extremely hard to actually ban these sites in a way that resourceful players can’t access them.

Along these lines, it’s almost always a better idea to regulate the industry.
