With Let It Ride, you place three bets of the same size, and you’re dealt three cards. You have a chance to take back one of your bets, and then you’re dealt a fourth card. Once more you’ll have the opportunity to take back a bet, and then the final card is dealt after which you’re paid a prize based on your final hand.

Let It Ride Strategy for Three Cards

When you have three cards, you’re usually going to pull back your bet. The only times that you won’t will be when you have three cards that could make up a royal flush or if you already have three of a kind or a single pair of tens or higher. Three consecutive cards to a straight flush will also work as long as they are 3-4-5 or higher.

If you have three cards to a straight flush with one gap, that can be played as long as you have at least one card that’s ten or higher. For example, J-9-8 of spades is good enough for you to keep your bet in with three cards. Also, three cards to a straight flush with two gaps are good enough for you to keep your bet in play as long as you have two cards that are ten or higher.

Playing With Four Cards

If you’re already familiar with poker hand rankings, then learning to play Let It Ride with four cards will be a piece of cake. If you already have a single pair of tens or better, two pair, three of a kind or four of a kind, then you’ll keep your bet in play. Also, if you have four to a flush or four to an open-ended (eight-out) straight draw, then you’ll keep it then as well. In all other cases, you’ll pull back your bet since you won’t have the best of it.
