This news comes after the House Gaming Oversight Committee requested an online gambling hearing that will see different issues brought up because they consider trying to push through a bill that would establish a regulation policy for Internet gambling inside of the state. This is the standard process on the state level, and if things go well, then it could be a major step forward to getting online games in the state.

How Pennsylvania Online Gambling is Likely to Look

The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board is one of the major parties that are expected to have an influence on this upcoming hearing. They have already made a number of their opinions known, and these recommendations are likely to shape how Pennsylvania online gambling is likely to work out. For example, they believe that licenses for online gambling operations should only be given to casino operators who already have a license to operate. This isn’t very different from how New Jersey handled their licensing situation.

The result would be popular online gambling providers pairing up with already existing land-based casinos to provide online games. Again, this is almost exactly how things work in New Jersey, and it’s interesting to see that other states are looking to follow suit.

The Influence of New Jersey

Right now, New Jersey is being used as the model for what should be done to regulate online gambling on the state level. The basic formula so far is, as described above, to give online gaming licenses to the operators who already own land-based licenses. These operators would then pair up with game providers who know how to handle the online side of the business so that they don’t have to “reinvent the wheel” so to speak. This is the pattern that’s being followed in Pennsylvania so far, and it’s looking like it could be the pattern that other states follow as well.
