PayPal US Online Gambling Deposits Coming Soon

While they offer gambling deposits in some jurisdictions on a global level, they haven’t allowed them in the USA for quite a while. That is set to change as they are currently in talks with officials in New Jersey about setting up funding for the state-regulated online gambling options. This is creating an interesting bit of competition for another well-established electronic wallet payment processor as well.

PayPal US Gambling Plans and Competition With Skrill

Known as one of the largest online gambling payment solutions on a global level, Skrill (formerly known as MoneyBookers) has the game in a chokehold in places like Europe where reportedly something like more than 80 or 90 percent of all players have used Skrill at some point for their payment options. They are also looking to getting into the United States, and just like they have done in other parts of the world, they want to really hit a high penetration rate and try to completely take over the situation. PayPal trying to get back into the United States market could throw a wrench into each others plans.

The Battle for New Jersey

Because New Jersey is seen as the most important online gambling market right now in the United States, it’s pretty interesting to see how there’s this big battle over who is going to provide payment processing solutions for the people there. Skrill has already gained the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement’s permission to start processing payments, and that’s a big leg up on PayPal.

What’s really interesting about all of this is that it’s coming after a lot of people have had issues with getting deposits to online casinos in New Jersey. Banks haven’t adapted to the new environment yet, so a lot of problems have come up, and Skrill and PayPal are both looking to fill that demand as quickly as they can.
