Online Gambling Poll Tells Compelling Story

Online Gambling PollThe American Gaming Association is known for advancing responsible gambling of any type as far as they can, and they’ve done their work once again with a very important online gambling poll in the United States. This poll shows that the public is very much behind expanding online gambling as well as expanding casino gambling in general. As the saying goes, the numbers don’t lie, and this information could be very important when it comes to the states opening up shop for online gambling legislation throughout 2014 and 2015.

The Results of this Online Gambling Poll

Generally speaking, the AGA poll shows two things very clearly. First, they show that more than two-thirds of people view casinos as a favorable thing. Second, they show that a similar majority of people understand that casino play can help the economy and the local governments.

There were questions on the poll that asked things about whether expanding casino play creates jobs and whether it helps to boost the economy of a given area. In a very interesting move, they were also polled on whether or not they thought casino operations should pay higher taxes than other businesses, and the answer was a very strong “no.”

Political Pressure

Right now in the United States, there is a ton of political pressure in both directions on the online gambling debate. While things are locked down on the federal level, the states are taking matters into their own hands with more than a dozen states looking at legislation right now that would either create or expand online gambling inside of their jurisdiction. These numbers are expected to grow through the rest of this year and into 2015.

If you look at the past year, online gambling has expanded more than ever on the state level, and this just goes to show that the will of the power is being listened to. With online casino, online poker and other types of betting being made available on the Internet, it’s a good time for the industry as a whole.
