Looking at Deuces Wild Straight Flush Draws

Deuces Wild Straight FlushWith one of the highest density of wild cards of any video poker game, Deuces Wild includes a lot of chances to play some pretty crazy draws. Learning to correctly evaluate how much straight flush draws are worth in this game is pretty critical because there are different types of straight flush draws to learn about. Our goal here is to show you what you need to know to avoid getting confused by classifying these draws and making them easy to understand from a conceptual standpoint. We’re going to focus primarily on how to play when you have just one wild in your hand because those are the most difficult decisions to make.

The Different Deuces Wild Straight Flush Draws

When you’re dealt a straight flush draw in Deuces Wild with a single wild card, your hand will consist of one wild, one trash card and three other cards that are the meat of the draw. We’re going to call these your meaty cards. There are three different ways to have a straight flush draw depending on how these meaty cards are distributed.

The strongest draw has all three meaty cards in a consecutive order, and an example of that would be something like 2d5h6h7hAc where the 7-6-5 of hearts combination are all in order. A step down would be a single gap situation where your meaty cards make a combination like T-9-7 or 8-6-5 where the wild card fills in a gap in the meaty sequence. Finally, you can have a double gap situation like T-8-6 or J-9-7 where the wild fills in one gap and you have another gap to try to fill.

How These Hands Relate to Made Hands

Your main decision with straight flush draws will be to know when to break up a made hand like a flush or straight or three of a kind to draw to the straight flush instead. The only case where you should break a made hand like this is if you have all three meaty cards in consecutive sequence, and that’s pretty easy to remember once you understand the concept.
