Delaware Online Gambling Revenues Drop For July

Delaware Online Gambling RevenuesAs far as online gambling goes in the United States, Delaware is probably the state that gets the least attention for their progress in this area. They offer almost as many types of gambling as New Jersey does, but because their player pool is so small, they have run into some very particular problems. Right now these problems are starting to really manifest themselves as Delaware online gambling revenues were down during the month of July compared to the previous month. Considering that they’ve only had these games for less than a year, any significant decline is going to be seen as a really bad thing at this point.

Why Are Delaware Online Gambling Revenues Dropping?

When you open up a new market, there’s this idea of the “bump” that happens when the population who wants to play peaks out. What happens with this bump is that when you peak, a lot of players who are only going to play in the short term to try something new fall out, and you’re left with the players who will keep depositing over the long run. It seems like that could be what has happened in Delaware after they saw growth for every month since they first opened up their online games back in November.

The Nature of the Growth and Decline

During the month of July, Delaware’s total revenues were down 7.6 percent overall when they were compared to June’s revenues. A drop like this could be caused by a few different things, but it definitely shows that growth has basically stopped, and that’s never going to be good.

You might notice that other states like New Jersey are still seeing growth, and one of the reasons why is that they offer a wider range of games, they’re able to get a piece of the tourism side of things with Atlantic City. They also have a larger population to work with, and they’ve been cycling in new players for a while. Delaware has hit a bit of a wall that includes saturation, and their best bet going forward is to team with other states to share player pools on games like poker.
