California Online Gambling Option Launched by Ilpay Nation

Even inside of the United States, there are federal laws on certain types of online gambling which are then complicated by state laws and the laws that govern Native American tribes as sovereign nations. Those complications are leading to a situation with California online gambling law being put to the test after the Ilpay Nation has launched an online gambling site that could include online poker in the future. How this situation plays out could have a major impact on how Internet casinos in the state play out in the future.

The Newest California Online Gambling Option

The Indian Regulatory Act of 1988, also known as the IGRA for short, describes which types of games Native American tribes can run with and without the agreement of the state. What are known as class II games include games like bingo and poker, and these games do not require state approval to run. However, what are listed as class III games which would include slots and most traditional casino games do require an agreement with the state.

The Ilpay Nation has launched a site that would allow people to play bingo for the moment, and they are looking to add poker and possibly other class II games in the near future. While they have noted that there are no current plans to launch class III games, they have made it clear that they are going to look to expand as much as possible.

California Lawmakers Have Trouble

It was thought that 2014 would be the year that would bring regulated online casinos to California, but that is not going to be the case. Online poker in particular was thought to be in the state before the end of the year, but that didn’t happen either. What the Ilpay Nation is doing could very much influence lawmakers in 2015 to expand and create a framework for regulating the industry which can only help everyone involved, especially the players.
