Microgaming’s collection of mobile slot machines already had some Ancient Egypt themed slots in it, but here they collaborated with JFTW to get a different type of design and experience. The story is not a new one though, involving a team of archaeologists visiting the pyramids and finding treasures. The style of the graphics is more in the cartoon genre, something from a comic book maybe, not quite ready for animation though.

Getting to the symbols which will make appearances on the reels, the Wild Pharaoh is one of them, after which we see images of the three archaeologists (young woman, old man, young man), and of jewelry representing the Eye of Ra, Horus, the Ankh and a canopic jar.

Developer

Temple of Tut is a collaboration between one of the oldest developers of online slot machines, and one of the newest ones. Microgaming is the former, while Just For The Win (JFTW) is the latter.

Microgaming announced several such collaborations with smaller developers, which will create mobile slots exclusively for them going forward. Not sure how much input Microgaming had here, but you can already tell in Temple of Tut that it’s a different type of game than they usually released.

How To Play It

You’re going to get a mobile friendly design, and the bet settings will be accessed from one of the buttons shown on the screen. The range of the options listed next will be $0.10 to $500. You get to select only the total amount, so you don’t fiddle with other options.

Though you have 5×3 reels, the standard setup that most slots will use, there are only 10 fixed lines for them. The design is thought up to work well on mobile devices.

Special Features

Among the symbols that are related to the Egyptian theme, the Pharaoh is clearly the most important one, and it’s not just because of who it represents. The feature that it comes with is the wild, so it will be a substitute and will help you form winning combinations if it lands in just the right position. The downside would be that only the Super Reels will get them here.

These Super Reels are used at random, and they can be obtained at any point in the main game. When the feature triggers, you will have 1 to 5 reels transformed. The new Super Reels have the usual symbols, to which they add wilds as well.

A popular feature symbol in a lot of slot machines will come in the form of the game’s logo, and that’s what we get here as well. It’s a scatter symbol, and it’s going to be useful only when it appears in three or more positions in a single round. You get a chance at 8, 5 or 30 free spins, depending on just how many scatters you got that round. Every single spin makes use of the Super Reels at this point, so you have a better chance of forming combinations with wilds in them. The feature is retriggered with 2+ scatters.

Maximum Payouts

The paytable lists its prizes as total bet multiples, and the largest one is at 25x. For a game with a wager of $500, it will translate into a $12,500 jackpot.

Summary

Temple of Tut is the result of a good collaboration between Microgaming and Just For The Win. I look forward to seeing what else they come up with.
