The much exploited leprechaun strikes once again, this time acting as a hero of Yggdrasil’s 4,096 ways-to-win Rainbow Ryan slot. No doubt you’ve already played more than one game featuring this same character from the Irish folklore, said to have a hidden pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

Though it’s somewhat unexpected to see Yggdrasil opt for a theme which has been used so many times before, their reputation ensures there will be one or two surprises to look forward to. Read on to find out which particular magic tricks this little leprechaun is capable of delivering.

Developer

Yggdrasil is one of the new kids on the block, having been established as recently as 2013. They have, however, managed to compile a great little selection of games within relatively short period of time. Having a former NetEnt CEO as the founder has surely helped. At the moment the company’s portfolio counts about 40 video slots, plus a variety of scratch cards, keno and lotto games.

Having used HTML5 code, they have made their products are accessible on a wider range of devices, including most smartphones and tablets. The brand has achieved an impressive reputation in no time (proven by numerous industry awards) thanks to top-notch, contemporary design, high quality audio effects, innovative themes, brilliant mechanics and creative features.

This is visible across the range, starting with their first release, Jokerizer, through to later launches such as Double Dragons, Bicicleta, Legend of the White Snake Lady, Bix Blox and Vikings Go Berzerk.

How To Play

Rainbow Ryan features reel area set on a concert stage, illuminated by spotlights and bordered by massive speakers, consisting of 6 reels and 4 rows. Hippy-looking Ryan dressed in green plays his guitar and will perform a special little piece each time you land a winning combo. Coin value can be set as low as €0.002 resulting in €0.10 total bet, and up to €2.00 and the respective €100 stake per round.

Bag filled with gold coins, boots, mic and pint of lager are you high value symbols, and Wild icon will sub for any of them to help you win. You’ll need to land at least 2 high-value symbols or 3 low-value ones on consecutive reels in order to collect a prize.

Special Features

Yggdrasil’s new video slot comes with 2 quite unique special features. The first one, Rainbow Reels, is triggered at random during the base game. Rainbow Ryan will use his guitar to randomly sync between 2 and 5 reels and have them display exactly the same symbols. Obviously this will increase your chances of forming a winning combination, and should he choose to sync all, you could be in for massive wins.

The second feature is a free games round triggered by Free Spins icons. As the result and depending on the number of triggering icons, you’ll be awarded between 7 and 20 free games with active Rainbow Reels. At least 2 reels will be synced on each spin, and while their number can increase with each round, it will never decrease. Don’t hold your breath, though, free spins don’t come around all that often.

Maximum Payouts

Bag of gold is your highest paying game symbol and will cash out up to 250x your line bet. Using the above mentioned special features, the most you can hope to win is a generous amount of 250,000 coins – or €500,000 in real money, providing you were betting max. It’s also worth noting that Rainbow Ryan comes with a decent RTP of 96.3%

Summary

Attractive design and high quality animations are what we’ve come to expect from Yggdrasil, and they don’t fail to deliver. The theme is less unique then we’re used to, but even so the developer manages to put a nice twist to it. Rainbow Ryan can easily become a bit dull as features are few and far in between, but on the other hand offers high potential wins, making it appealing primarily to fans of highly volatile slots.
