Super7 Blackjack Strategy and Rules

A lot of blackjack variations have big side bets that allow players to get a shot at large jackpots that they normally wouldn’t be able to play for in a blackjack game. Super7 Blackjack is one of those games. The main feature of this game is a side bet that can pay out up to 5,000 to 1 if you’re able to get three sevens of the same suit as your first two cards. There are other payouts for this side bet as well, and it’s definitely a bet to consider for players who are looking to get in some extra action.

House Advantage of Super7 Blackjack

In terms of house advantage, the side bet on the Super7 isn’t a very good bet at all. The side bet itself has a house edge of about 12 percent, and that means for every $1.00 that you bet on it, you’ll receive back about $0.88. Compare this to typical blackjack payout rates in the range of $0.99 or more on the dollar, and you’ll see why it’s not very favorable. Even with this in mind, the side bet is optional in Super 7 Blackjack, and the specific set of atypical rules that are used in this game make for a very particular strategy that requires you to pay close attention to the dealer’s cards.

Super7 Blackjack vs. Las Vegas-style Blackjack

When you compare Super7 Blackjack to standard Las Vegas-style blackjack, there are a couple of important rule changes that really make an impact on what the correct strategies are. The main two rule changes are that you can double on any two cards and that there is no peeking for blackjack on cards worth ten. What this means in terms of strategy is that when you’re facing a ten, jack, queen or king, you have to play a bit more conservatively whenever you’re doubling and splitting because of the increased chances of the dealer having a blackjack and wiping out your double-sized bet. This has the net effect of making facing a ten more dangerous than facing an ace, and this is the main strategic feature of the game.

No Surrender in Super7 Blackjack

It’s worth noting that you aren’t allowed to surrender in Super7 Blackjack, so you will have to take the hitting option in a number of scenarios where you face an ace or ten. For example, if you have a hard 16, you would much rather surrender against a super-powered ten or a regular-powered ace, but you do not have that option. In these cases, you’ll want to hit instead of doubling. Even if you have an ace against a ten, you’ll need to hit instead of doubling because of the extra power the tens have with the increased chance of the dealer holding a blackjack whenever you double.

For the most part, standard blackjack strategies will work in other scenarios in this game that do not involve you facing a ten. However, if you play like you would normally against tens without taking into account the fact that the dealer does not peek on a ten, then you will lose a whole lot of money very quickly.
