Online Keno Game Review

When looking for the worst overall payout rates of any game in an online casino, then online keno has historically been the first place that you should look. This lottery-like game is notorious for having some of the worst payouts that you can find, but that’s not necessarily the case when you look online. Some software providers have better payouts than others, and the best bets on the best games pay out in the similar range as video slots, so they’re not always a terrible bet comparatively.

If you’re really wanting to get in on the action with some Keno, then there is basically a two-step process that you should follow to maximize your return and maximize the fun that you have with the game. First, you should choose the best software provider available. Microgaming’s payouts are better than Playtech’s, and Playtech’s are better than Realtime Gaming’s. Second, you should choose between the bets that have the best payout rates based on the risk and reward that you are comfortable with.

How Online Keno Works

Keno is essentially a miniature lottery game. You’re able to pick between one and either 10 or 15 numbers. Once you place your bet on your picks, then a set of numbers are randomly chosen from a grid. After the winning numbers are shown, you get payouts based on how many of the numbers you correctly picked. Your payouts are based on both how many numbers you picked in total and how many numbers you correctly guessed. A “pick 5,” for example, would mean that you placed a bet on five numbers. Strategy is keno is completely based around how many numbers you choose instead of which numbers you choose.

Quick Review of the Best Bets

For reference, here we want to list the best three bets available in the keno games that are provided by Microgaming, Playtech and Realtime Gaming. For RTG, the best rate is for the pick 11 at 86.75 percent. You can also get the pick 8 or pick 14 which both have a 85.41 percent payout rate. The worst payout is the pick 1 which offers an incredibly low 75 percent payout.

Playtech has an atypical structure for keno since you can only pick up to 10 numbers. With that having been said, the pick 3 has the best payout percentage of 92.96 percent. The pick 8 has a slightly lower 92.75 percent rate. All bets in Playtech’s keno games offer payout rates of 92 percent or higher, so there’s not as much to be lost by just picking whichever bet you want, though it’s best to stick with the pick 3 or pick 8.

With Microgaming, you can get a very high 96.54 percent payout with the pick 13. The pick 7 also has a high 96.35 payout percentage. Both the pick 14 and pick 15 have payout rates higher than 95 percent. As is the case with RTG, you’ll want to always avoid the pick 1 bet since it has the same super-low 75 percent payout. Other bets range in the 92-95 percent rate.
